Vitamins Smitavins

It is unbelievable to me that every year Americans spend over 7 billion dollars a year on vitamins!

This wouldn't be so surreal if It wasn't for the fact that there is no proof that most of them work, yes some supplements have been provin to be beneficial, but really most studies show the opposite.

Take Vitamin E for instance, for years we have been told that it was a great supplement for the heart, well maybe not anymore!

Here, how does this sit with you

The Johns Hopkins team is scheduled to present its findings at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2004 in New Orleans, La., with simultaneous publication of their study in the Annals of Internal Medicine online Nov. 10.

The study results showed that people taking vitamin E supplements of 400 IU or more per day had an increased risk of death.

"Our study results do not support the use of high-dose vitamin E supplements.  If people are taking a multivitamin, they should make sure it contains no more than a low dose of vitamin E," said study lead author and internist Edgar R. Miller III, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  "A lot of people take vitamins because they believe it will benefit their health in the long term and prolong life.  But our study shows that use of high-dose vitamin E supplements certainly did not prolong life, but was associated with a higher risk of death."   taken from http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/Press_releases/2004/11_10_04.html

Everyday I see people I work with and family members popping pills, it scares me that these can actually do more harm than good!  It doesn't surprise me though, nature, and God are not so simple that we can just extract parts of things and expect them to work the same.  What I mean is that we may extract vitamin c from a fruit, but maybe that vitamin C worked so well because the sequence of other vitamins being absorbed from that fruit!

What's my point?

My point is that we should probably stop eating like a bunch of twits and stop spending our money on pills.

Get it from whole foods!

Modern medicine, or modern idiots?

It is the year 2008, modern medicine has gone a long way since the dark days of blood letting, and using leaches to suck out the bad........OR HAS IT?

I'm constantly reading articles about medical malpractice, sometimes I'm not sure if most doctors are even qualified to be making any decisions.

So about a year ago I was having heart palpatations....still am, they would be accompanied by general chest discomfort and other little annoying feelings, many of which mimicked a heart attack!

That scared me, so I went to the hospital, while I was there, (Mercy Hospital, Wilkes Barre, PA) they were giving me blood tests to check for a heart attack, I fell asleep only to wake up to a loud beeping.

My heart monitor had malfunctioned, it was showing that I was dead.........about a half hour later a doctor noticed, nice response time, so I ended up leaving.

The hospital did absolutely nothing for me, but had no problem charging me thousands of dollars!

Months later my doctor sent me for an ekg, stress test etc.  I came back cool, that was a relief but the symptoms persisted

So lately I have been having a new symptom, whenever I have heart palpitations they are accompanied by a swollen left foot.   Wierd, to say the least, so I called my doctor, within seconds of the conversation he prescribed me COREG, now from what I gather this is a heart medication.  He SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY HEART BUT IS PUTTING ME ON HEART MEDICATION..................W H A T??????

It's like they throw a couple darts against the wall and see if one sticks.

Meanwhile I end up talking to my brother, he has been getting dizzy a lot lately, goes to the doctor, they find an enlarged heart.  They say OK, come back in a year to see if it worsens, no treatment, nothing................W H A T??????????

Acting like an idiot at work!

OK, so we all get bored at work from time to time.  I am an outside sales person, meaning that I travel to small businesses and attempt to sell my product to them.  I am on the road 4 days a week but in the office on Monday.

Monday is usually a paperwork day, and everyone is pretty quiet so I like to play pranks on people.  I don't do it to the extent of pissing anyone off, just enough to screw with them.  I like to piss in peoples drinks...j/k  Anyway, of all the pranks that I pulled I really like the microsoft word search and replace prank, going to the tools menu and selecting the auto correct command, then telling it to replace certain words with

So the girl that runs the office is really good at what she does, but not overly familiar with Microsoft office.  I set her word documents to replace her name with the word "crackwhore" so when she is typing she has no idea untill the proof read...lol, lol, .

Anyway.........this isn't really that funny unless you do it to someone and get to listen to them talk to themselves trying to figure out what the heck is going on,    .........she thought she had a virus....lol

take care,

Crackwhore
